Notes: One of Grand Master Moy Yat's closest disciples was Master Moy Tung. In 1980 he began training his Ving Tsun after 10 years of experience in martial arts, having experimented with every style he could find. He was searching for the true source of the martial arts, and his philosophy was to train with anyone who could beat him in full-contact sparring. In a year, he was doing Ving Tsun exclusively - he had dominated all his previous instructors with the Ving Tsun concepts. In 1986 Moy Tung founded his first school (downtown Richmond, Virginia) with the idea of training people to be fighters and teachers/business owners, and began seeing his students have the same success he had had. Today there are numerous Moy Tung kwoons (schools) and clubs open under him around the country. The American Ving Tsun Academy is the 10th school to have opened in the Moy Tung family (Moy Tung 10 Kwoon). Austin, TX native Aaron Vyvial opened the school in the summer of 2002 with Master Moy Tung's advice to "teach pure V.T. from the heart," and was given the kung fu family name of Moy Sap Tung by his sifu. Sifu Moy Sap Tung started training at age 17 in Richmond, Virginia, then moved to Los Angeles. There, he furthered his training as a live-in student of Moy Tung, as well as an instructor at the Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy of Pasadena, CA. Always a student himself, Moy Sap Tung continues to train as a member of the MY-3 - Moy Tung's inner circle of "special students" - and a member of the International Moy Yat Family Association. The Ving Tsun program at the Austin school is conducted in the same traditional manner as other Moy Yat schools, including the Richmond school where Sifu Moy Sap Tung studied and Moy Yat headquarters in New York where Moy Tung studied. Sifu Moy Sap Tung is a proponent of the proverb "Ving Tsun Chuen Jing Tung," which refers to the genuineness of the martial art, and reads "Ving Tsun Authentically Passing Down." In other words, passing down the Ving Tsun unchanged by one's own ideas. Thus, the kung fu is able to "flow" unchanged from Grandmaster Yip Man to Si Tai Gung Moy Yat, to Sigung Moy Tung, to Sifu Moy Sap Tung, and now from Moy Sap Tung to his students. Though Sifu Moy Sap Tung has studied other types of martial art (including other forms of Wing Chun), he has always relied on and returned to the concepts and details of the Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu system.
