His style extends beyond fighting techniques, and prepares students to deal with any challenge that they may encounter in real-life situations.
In April 1992, Master Patenaude was honoured as Kung-Fu Instructor of the Year, and was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio. Master Patenaude also received the Canadian Community Service Award from the Prime Minister of Canada, in recognition of his valuable contribution to the community. 1994 saw Master Patenaude's school in Ottawa selected as one of the "Top 200 Schools in North America", with only four chosen throughout Canada.
Master Patenaude has introduced two highly acclaimed training videos and three technical posters. He is in constant demand for seminars and workshops, and is currently working on a series of books describing his art. Master Patenaude has appeared in the "Who's Who in the Martial Arts" directory of "Karate International" magazine. He has also been featured on the cover of "Canadian Health and Lifestyles" magazine.
